Video The works of Salvador Dali - his surreal works from 1933 to 1961

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domčnech, 1st Marqués de Dalí de Pubol (May 11, 1904 – January 23, 1989), known as Salvador Dalí was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Figueres, Spain.

Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters.[1][2] His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in 1931. Dalí's expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media. Dalí attributed his "love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes"to a self-styled "Arab lineage", claiming that his ancestors were descended from the Moors.....

M. C. Escher

Video: The works of M. C. Escher - Lithograph, Woodcut and Wood engraving 1925 - 1961

Maurits Cornelis Escher Dutch: 17 June 1898 – 27 March 1972), usually referred to as M. C. Escher, was a Dutch graphic artist. He is known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. These feature impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture, and tessellations.

Maurits Cornelis, nicknamed "Mauk", was born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, in a house that forms part of the Princessehof Ceramics Museum today. He was the youngest son of civil engineer George Arnold Escher and his second wife, Sara Gleichman. In 1903, the family moved to Arnhem, where he attended primary school and secondary school until 1918.....

Roy Lichtenstein

Video The works of Roy Lichtenstein - His works from the 60s und Car Art Projekt 1977

Roy Lichtenstein, October 27, 1923 – September 29, 1997) was an American pop artist. During the 1960s, his paintings were exhibited at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City and, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, James Rosenquist, and others. He became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the basic premise of pop art better than any other through parody. Favoring the old-fashioned comic strip as subject matter, Lichtenstein produced hard-edged, precise compositions that documented while it parodied often in a tongue-in-cheek humorous manner. His work was heavily influenced by both popular advertising and the comic book style. He described Pop Art as, "not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting".....

Vincent van Gogh

Video The works of Vincent Van Gogh - His works from 1882 to1890

Vincent Willem van Gogh 30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a farreaching influence on 20th - century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died aged 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted (although no gun was ever found). His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.

Van Gogh began to draw as a child, and he continued to draw throughout the years that led up to his decision to become an artist. He did not begin painting until his late twenties, completing many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade, he produced more than 2,100 artworks, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints. His work included self portraits, landscapes, still lifes, portraits and paintings of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers.....

Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz

Video: The works of Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz His works from the 60s (Englisch)

Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz (31 December 1941 – 5 August 2002) was one of South West England's most celebrated artists of modern times.  Perennially unfashionable in high art circles,  his work was  nevertheless popular with the  public. He produced more than 10,000 works,  usually on a large scale,  and in themed projects investigating hidden communities :-  Vagrancy 1973,  Mental Handicap 1976  or  difficult social issues Suicide 1980, Death 1982.

Robert Lenkiewicz was born in London in 1941, the son of refugees who ran a Jewish hotel in Fordwych Road, whose elderly residents included a number of Holocaust survivors. He was inspired to paint after seeing Charles Laughton in Alexander Korda's biographical film Rembrandt. At 16, Lenkiewicz was accepted at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and later attended the Royal Academy. However, he was virtually impervious to contemporary art fashions, being more interested in his favourite paintings in the National Gallery.
Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz

Inspired by the example of Albert Schweitzer, Lenkiewicz threw open the doors of his studios to anyone in need of a roof down and outs, addicts, criminals and the mentally ill congregated there. These individuals were the subjects of his paintings as a young man. However, such colourful characters were not welcomed by his neighbours and he was obliged to leave London in 1964.

Gesichter der Renaissance (1420-1600)

Video The works of: Andrea de Assisi Fanciullo,  Andrea Mantegna, Davide Ghirlandaio,  Domenico Ghirlandaio, Francesco del Cossa, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci.

The Renaissance from French: "re-birth", was a cultural movement that spanned the period roughly from the 14th to the 17th century, beginning in Italy in the  Late Middle Ages  and  later  spreading to the rest of Europe.  Though availability of paper andthe invention of metal  movable type  sped the  dissemination of  ideas  from the later  15th century, the changes of the Renaissancewere not uniformly experienced across Europe. As a cultural movement, it encompassed innovative flowering of  Latin and vernacular literatures, beginning with the 14th-century resurgence of learning based on classical sources, which contemporaries credited to Petrarch, the development of linear perspective and other techniques of rendering a more natural reality in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform. In politics the Renaissance contributed the development of the conventions of diplomacy, and in science an increased reliance on observation. Historians often argue this intellectual transformation was a bridge between the Middle Ages and the Modern era. Although the Renaissance saw revolutions in many intellectual pursuits, as well as social and political upheaval, it is perhaps best known for its artistic developments and the contributions of such polymaths as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who inspired the term "Renaissance man.....
